This year the IGCS Summer School visited TU Dresden. The event was organized by the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability and offered 30 students the opportunity to learn about and discuss the topic of “Smart Grids—Electricity Networks as the Backbone of a Carbon Neutral Society.” As well as lectures, discussions and group work, the program also included technical excursions, one of which brought the attendees to HIGHVOLT. After an introductory presentation, they were divided into two groups and guided through the HIGHVOLT halls, offering them an overview of the production of high-voltage testing and measuring systems. The students were particularly impressed by the high-voltage hall, the test facilities and the specially presented experiments: the simulation of a lightning strike and an electric arc.
